St. Paul School, Burlington, was well represented during the Oliver Cromwell Black History Society’s annual art and essay contest held for schools in Burlington City and Township. Students submitted compelling essays and beautiful works of art for the contest that honors the memory of Oliver Cromwell, an African American soldier in the Revolutionary War who was decorated by President George Washington. A Burlington County native, Cromwell was born in Columbus and returned to Burlington after the war. He is buried in the cemetery of Broad Street United Methodist Church, Burlington City.
