Veterans Day Mass to be celebrated in Trenton church Nov. 11

Holy Cross Post 417 Catholic War Veterans, Inc., is extending an open invitation to all for a special Veterans Day Mass to be offered in Holy Cross Church, Trenton, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. The Mass will be dedicated to all veterans, living and deceased, noted Edward Szul, past post commander.

Veterans Day, originally known as Armistice Day, was first proclaimed by President Woodrow Wilson on Nov. 11, 1919 to recognize the armistice between Germany and the Allied Nations that ended World War I. In 1954, Congress officially passed and President Dwight Eisenhower signed a bill proclaiming each November 11 as Veteran’s Day, and it was later expanded to remember veterans from all wars.

Anyone with relatives and friends in the armed forces, no matter their religious persuasion, are encouraged to attend the Mass. A color guard and members of veterans associations and military units are expected to attend. Holy Cross Church is at 201 Adeline Street, Trenton.
