'Trunk or Treat' in Manahawkin set
July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.
The student council in All Saints Regional Catholic School will host a Trunk or Treat event Oct. 24 from 1-3 p.m. in the school parking lot, 400 Doc Cramer Blvd., Manahawkin.
“The students wanted to do something that would benefit cancer research. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the proceeds from this event will go to breast cancer research and cancer research in general,” stated Joanne McKnight, a teacher and student council advisor.
Phyllis Merchant, who works in the school’s development department, explained that “trunkers” are the school parents and they will pay a fee of $5 to set up in the parking lot. Parents will supply their own candy and treats in their vehicle trunks. The “treaters” must be accompanied by an adult and are encouraged to wear a Halloween costume. Admission is $1 per child and each child will receive a wristband.
Merchant noted that this is the first occasion for All Saints Regional Catholic to host the community event.
“We are looking forward to an awesome community turnout,” she said. “The students hope to raise at least $500 to send to the Breast Cancer Prevention Institute in White House Station, New Jersey.”
For more information, contact the school at 609-597-3800 or Merchant at 609-618-3983.
