Theology on Tap to begin with training program

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

Using a program that has successfully evangelized young adults for more than 30 years, the diocesan Young Adult Ministry is launching Renew International’s Theology on Tap with a training program Jan. 11, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, Freehold.

Pastors, pastoral associates, and young adult ministry leaders are invited to the training session which is being co-sponsored by the Diocese of Camden.

Presenters for the morning will be members of the Camden Diocese’s Theology on Tap core team, along with Greg Coogan, director of Youth, young Adult and Campus Ministry in the Diocese of Camden.

The workshop will provide an overview of the concepts and implementation of TOT, which is an invitation for young adults to learn more about their faith and to share in the Catholic community, and should serve as a springboard for other young adult initiatives.

The goal of the training is to allow for regularly scheduled TOT events throughout the year, with participants then returning to a young adult ministry group in their parish.

On Feb. 11, the first TOT event will be hosted by Charles Borromeo Parish in Dooney’s Pub, Delran, from 7 - 9p.m.  Keynote speaker for the first event will be Monsignor Thomas N. Gervasio, diocesan vicar general and moderator of the curia, who is pastor in Our Lady of Sorrows -St. Anthony Parish, Hamilton Township. His topic will be “Church and State, God and Government.”
