A day of family-style fun will serve as a memorial tribute to Tamara Wilson-Seidle, who lost her life to an act of domestic violence June 16, 2015.

“Tami’s Family Festival,” co-sponsored by the Neptune High School class of 1982 and 180 Turning Lives Around, Inc., a domestic violence prevention organization, will be held June 18 from noon to 4 p.m. (rain date June 25) in the rear parking lot of Neptune High School, Neptune.

The festival will feature 20 arcade-style games, a DJ and music, food and fun for the whole family. One hundred percent of the proceeds will be used to benefit Seidle’s  children and are tax deductible.

Tamara Wilson-Seidle was a catechist in the Trenton and Metuchen Dioceses for more than two decades and was recognized  by Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., as a “pillar of faith within the community of Mother of Mercy Parish.”

In the Trenton Diocese, Seidle served as a catechist in St. Peter Claver Parish before moving to Our Lady of Providence Parish, where she was an altar server coordinator, reader and extraordinary minister of the Eucharist. In 2012, she was named religious education coordinator for the parishes of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and  Holy Spirit, which became Mother of Mercy Parish in 2014. Paramount among her many duties during the merging was managing a staff of 38 teachers and aides to create a single religious education program for the four parishes consolidated into Mother of Mercy Parish.

Seidle was killed in front of her seven-year-old daughter by her ex-husband, a Neptune police sergeant, on the morning of June 16, 2015. A breast cancer survivor, she left behind five daughters and four sons ranging in age from eight to 25 years old. Several of her children are current or former students of Our Lady of Mount Carmel School.

The Seidle children will participate in the family festival, bidding the revelers welcome and thanking them for their support.

180 Turning Lives Around, Inc., located in Hazlet, is a private non-profit organization dedicated to ending domestic and sexual violence in the local community. Since 1976 they have served individuals and families with immediate and long-term support in overturning trauma, obtaining services and making decisions that will turn their lives around.

Tickets for the festival may be purchased in advance through the mail at $20 for adults and $10 for students or children and include five game tickets. To order, mail a check made payable to “Class of 1982” with the name, address, phone and the number of tickets desired to Clare Freda, 21 Elm Drive, Neptune, N.J. 07753. All tickets will be held at the door for pick up.

Tickets may also be purchased on the day of the event. Same-day admission ticket prices are $25 for adults and $15 for students or children and include five game tickets.

Volunteers to help with the event are still needed. For more information or to volunteer, contact Audrey Washington at [email protected]. Neptune  High School is located at 55 Neptune Blvd., Neptune City.
