Talk on evangelizing to parents offered

The diocesan Ministry of Catechesis and Evangelization will sponsor a formation day for DREs, CREs and catechists entitled “Evangelizing Parents, Engaging Students” Aug. 22 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in St. William the Abbott Parish, Howell. Dr. Joseph White, a catechetical consultant for Our Sunday Visitor, will speak to catechists about how to both evangelize parents and engage students in the classroom.

Dr. White earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Va. He is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology. His primary areas of focus include adjustment difficulties, coping with anxiety, phobias and traumatic experiences, sensory-behavioral issues and concerns about cognitive, social, or emotional development.

Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m.; registration begins at 9:30 a.m. with presentations beginning at 10 a.m. Dr. White will speak and answer pre-submitted questions about how to catechize children with ADHD and special needs.

Cost of the workshop is $10, which includes a small breakfast and lunch. To register by mail, send a check made payable to the Diocese of Trenton MCE to the Chancery at 701 Lawrenceville Road, P.O. Box 5147, Lawrenceville, N.J., 08638. Registration via credit card can be made online at www.dioceseoftrenton.org/Evangelizing-Parents. Questions for Dr. White may be included in your registration.
