The Tim Keyes Consort, a symphonic choir and orchestra based in Plainfield, will perform a “Musical Celebration of Saint Patrick” in Somerset County Library, Bridgewater, March 8, 7:30 p.m., and in St. Bernard of Clairvaux and St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish, Plainfield, March 10, 4 p.m.

The celebration will feature composer Tim Keyes’ works for soloists, chorus and orchestra, “St. Patrick’s Breastplate” and “The Irish Blessing,” which will be performed under the direction of Keyes.

‘Saint Patrick’s Breastplate’ is an ancient Celtic prayer ascribed to St.

Patrick. The Gaelic prayer blends ancient Druid beliefs with Christian tenets of faith. The eight movement work is scored for soprano, alto, tenor, baritone soloists, chorus and orchestra.

‘The Irish Blessing’ is the wellknow Irish blessing prayer invoked as a prayer of hopefulness on life’s journey. This short arrangement is scored for tenor soloist, chorus and orchestra. The Tim Keyes Consort, now in its 17th year of performance and recording, is a non-profit organization directed by Keyes and assisted by Eliza Rush. The consort is composed of both professional and amateur singers and instrumentalists from throughout Central New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania.

Vocal soloists for both evenings will be Victoria Lotkowictz (soprano) of Edison, Daria Dragon (alto) of Whitehouse Station, Justin Connors (tenor) of Woodbridge, and Gary Gavula (bass) of Trenton.

Tim Keyes, a New Jersey-based composer, conductor and pastoral musician, is currently the pastoral assistant for music and liturgy at The Catholic Community of St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Skillman. An accomplished church musician and choral director, he has composed sacred music oratorios, concertos and a symphony among his many compositions.

There is no admission at the Somerset County Library performance and there will be a free will offering at the St. Bernard of Clairvaux and St Stanislaus Kostka performances.

Somerset County Library is located at 1 Vogt Drive, Bridgewater. St. Bernard of Clairvaux and St.

Stanislaus Kostka Parish is located at 1235 George Street, Plainfield.
