Super Plunge X set for Super Bowl Sunday

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

St. Francis Community Center and the Southern Regional High School Swim Teams will hold their 10th annual Super Plunge fundraiser Feb. 2 at 1 p.m. at 48th Street Beach section of Long Beach Township.  Participants are invited to brave the icy, cold Atlantic Ocean for a good cause and still be home in time for the big game.

Pre-registration is required.  Registration will take place Feb. 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Feb. 2 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Senior Lounge at the community center.  Registration forms can be picked-up in advance at the front desk of the community center, or printed from the website at stfranciscenterlbi.org and mailed to St. Francis Community Center, Attn:  Super Plunge X, 4700 Long Beach Blvd., Long Beach Township, NJ 08008-3926.  The cost is $30 per person, $15 per student on or before Jan. 31 and $35 per person, $20 per student after Jan. 31.  Participants are encouraged to seek sponsor donations in addition to their registration fee.  Sponsor forms can also be found on the website.

All registered participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt.  T-shirts will be available for purchase after noon the day of the event.  Wristbands will be issued to all participants and must be worn at the time of the plunge.  Participants should bring bathing suit, towels and blankets.  Costumes of all kinds are encouraged.

Post-plunge festivities will be immediately following the plunge in the community center at 4700 Long Beach Boulevard.  Refreshments will be served and prizes will be awarded in four categories; youngest plunger, oldest plunger, best costume and most funds raised overall. Mrs. NJ America 2013, Evelyn McLeod, will be making a special guest appearance and will participate in the Awards Ceremony.  All proceeds will benefit both the center and the swim teams.

For more information, contact the front desk of the community center at 609-494-8861 or visit stfranciscenterlbi.org or facebook.com/stfrancislbi.
