Super Plunge planned for Feb. 3 in Brant Beach

The 15th Annual Super "Plunge" Sunday is scheduled for Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 3, at 1 p.m.

Super Plunge XV, a fundraiser organized by St. Francis Community Center and the Swim Teams of Southern Regional High School, will take place at the 48th Street Beach in the Brant Beach section of Long Beach Township.

Pre-registration is required. Registration will take place at the Community Center on Feb. 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on Feb. 3 from 10 a.m. to noon. Registration forms can be picked up in advance at the front desk of the Community Center or printed for the center's website at stfranciscenterlbi.org and mailed to 4700 Long Beach Blvd.,  Long Beach Township, NJ 08008-3926. Fee is $30 per person on or before Jan. 27 and $35 registering after Jan. 27. The student registration fee is $15 on or before Jan. 27 and $20 after Jan. 27. Participants are encouraged to seek sponsor donations in addition to their registration fee. The sponsor forms can also be found online. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Community Center and Southern Regional High School swim teams.

All registered participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt. T-shirts will also be available to spectators for purchase after noon on Feb. 3. Wristbands will also be issued to all participants and must be worn at the time of the plunge. Plungers should bring bathing suit, towels, blankets and a change of warm clothing.  

After the Plunge, participants and spectators are invited to a party to be held in the Community Center. Prizes will be awarded to the youngest plunger, oldest plunger, best costume and most funds raised overall.
