As part of the hands-on discovery approach to learning, St. Raphael School, Hamilton, students are participating in the Greater Philadelphia SeaPerch Challenge through Drexel University.  The competition, open to middle schools and high schools in the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware region, aims to increase student interest in the subjects of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) as well as introduce them to robotics and naval engineering.

Subsequent categories in the competition include: Team Presentation, how well they can convey their engineering ideas and market their ROV; Design Notebook, a test of their organizational and documentation capabilities; and Spirit & Sportsmanship, a test of their capabilities to recognize and encourage better solutions and engineering.
