St. Gabriel Parish to host presentations on women of the Bible

Women of the Bible will be the focus of two presentations led by Dr. James Bridges in St. Gabriel Parish, Marlboro. On Oct. 24, a session on Women in the Old Testament will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon and again from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the media room located in the parish center. Dr. Bridges will share the stories of the women, many of whom are not familiar or even named.
On Nov. 7, Dr. Bridges will introduce Women in the New Testament during sessions held from 10:30 a.m. to noon and again from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the media room.
Through his discussion, participants will come to learn more about Jesus, the Twelve Apostles and Paul and women of the time including Junia, Phoebe, Priscilla, several women named Mary and a cohort of unnamed women.
Dr. Bridges holds both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in theology and a doctorate in biblical studies.
He teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses in religious studies, facilitates several Scripture study programs and is the religious education director in St. Gabriel Parish. His experience in catechesis and Scripture studies spans more than 30 years.
