St. Francis Medical Center recognized for Leapfrog Excellence

St. Francis Medical Center recognized for Leapfrog ExcellenceSt. Francis Medical Center, Trenton, has been recognized for  excellence by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey’s Hospital Recognition Program. To compare New Jersey hospitals, Horizon BCBSNJ utilizes the national Leapfrog Hospital Recognition Program (LHRP), a comprehensive pay-for- performance program focusing on the most important patient safety, quality and resource use standards. This prestigious award will result in an increase in reimbursements to St. Francis Medical Center totaling $400,000 over the next two years.

“This recognition is so gratifying,” said Dr. James Romano, medical director of St. Francis Medical Center. “It is a result of the unwavering dedication we have to patient safety and quality care here at St. Francis.”

The 2014 LHRP Reports contain data collected from 1,501 hospitals in all 50 states, including the District of Columbia. Since 2006, Horizon BCBSNJ has recognized the top performers of LHRP program through its Horizon Hospital Recognition Program. Currently, 53 New Jersey hospitals in Horizon BCBSNJ’s network participate in this program.
