St. Francis Center spring activities announced

Registration for spring activities at St. Francis Community Center, Brant Beach, will open Feb. 12 at 9 a.m. The Center serves the entire southern Ocean county area, providing year-round educational, social, recreational and self-development activities and programs for all ages.

Classes are scheduled to begin March 3, and include:

Aquatic Center: All levels of swimming instruction are offered at the Aquatic Center, from four years old through intermediate. Private and semi-private lessons are available as well. Additional programs include Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED Training for Professional Lifeguards, Competitive Swim and Fall Swim Clinic.

Recreation Programs: “Tot and Tyke” basketball clinic with Dick Manzo, retired St. Rose High School basketball coach; Spring Basketball Clinic; All Level Yoga; Basic Boating Safety Course – New Jersey certified.

Special Events: Seventh annual March Madness Free Throw Contest; Fish and Chips Dinner; Family Health and Safety Fair; Card and Game Party/Luncheon; Fine Arts Show; Spring Craft Show; seventh annual Garden Party by the Sea Fashion Show.

Yearly membership offers lower rates for many activities and free admission to “open gym.” Pool memberships are available for three months, six months or yearly for both individuals and families.

St. Francis Center offers the area’s original Summer Vacation Club for children ages five through 13; registration is set for May 7. The Center also features a senior center; counseling, family and parenting services; volunteer program and various special events throughout the year. Facilities include a regulation gymnasium, competition-size indoor pool and two heated outdoor pools.
