St. Francis' Bonny Ross receives Impact Award

Dr. Bonny Ross, director of the School of Nursing in St. Francis Medical Center, Trenton, and a member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Hightstown, was recently awarded the 2014 Impact Award on behalf of the New Jersey Nursing Students Inc. The award is given to someone who has made an impact on a student nurse during their education. The nominees are submitted by student nurses and the award is given during their annual conference. This year’s conference was held in February in Atlantic City.
Dr. Ross was nominated by students Rachael Platt, who is a senior nursing student in St. Francis Medical Center. Platt stated that: “Dr. Ross works tirelessly with both faculty and students to create the best curriculum and clinical experiences. No matter what Dr. Ross may be working on, her door is always open and so is her heart.”
Dr. Ross has been on the St. Francis Medical Center staff for 27 years. She received her bachelor of science degree in nursing and master’s degree from the University of Iowa and her doctorate from Nova Southeastern University in Florida. Dr. Ross began her teaching career at St. Francis Medical Center as an adjunct professor, then coordinator and has been the director of the School of Nursing for the past 18 years. She currently serves as president elect for the National Coalition of Hospital Associated Schools and Colleges of Nursing.
