St. Faustina, miracles topic of Divine Mercy event scheduled Nov. 20 in Hamilton parish

St. Raphael-Holy Angels Parish, Hamilton, will mark the conclusion of the Extraordinary Jubilee  Year of Mercy with a Divine Mercy event Nov. 20.

The event is 2 to 4 p.m. in St. Raphael Church, 3500 S. Broad St., Hamilton, and is open to all persons including those who are new to the story of St. Faustina and the Divine Mercy Devotion, as well as those who already have devotion to the saint. Doors open at 1:15 p.m.

The day’s presenters include Michael P. Riccards, author and playwright who will speak on “St. Faustina and the Divine Mercy Devotion.” He is a member of St. Raphael-Holy Angels Parish, has served as president of three American colleges and is the author of 20 books, including Vicars of Christ,” which he presented to Pope John Paul II. His play, “Divine Mercy in My Soul: A Play on the Life of St. Faustina Kowalksa,” is included in his book, “The Collected Plays of Michael P. Riccards.” He is the founding executive director of the Hall Institute and a public policy scholar at College Board, Washington, D.C.

The second presentation will be given by Deacon Bob Digan of Boston and his wife, Maureen, who will share their family life story – they had two children who both died – and the incurable disease that was lifted from Maureen Digan. She was the recipient of the first miracle that led to St. Faustina’s beatification.

After the presentations, the day will conclude with recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. A free-will offering will be collected.
