Spirituality/education days for seniors slated

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

The Diocese of Trenton’s Department of Pastoral Care has set the dates for the annual Spirituality/Education Days for maturing adults. The day-long presentations, designed to entertain, enlighten and enrich the faith of attendees, will be held on successive Wednesdays in May, one in each county of the diocese.

Each workshop begins at 9:30 a.m. with registration and a continental breakfast, followed by a spiritual presentation from Msgr. Casimir Ladzinski and an educational slide presentation by Terry Galvin Anderson. Mass will be celebrated at noon, and the workshops will conclude with a boxed lunch and fellowship.

Msgr. Casimir Ladzinski, a native of Burlington County, served the Diocese of Trenton as priest, pastor, and vicar general for over 50 years. Currently retired from active ministry and residing at the Villa Vianney residence, “Msgr. Casey” continues to pray and spread the good news of the Gospel. His presentation is entitled “The Times They Are a-Changin’: Pope Francis one year later.”

Terry Galvin Anderson, a commissioned lay ecclesial minister for the diocese who works as a multi-faith healthcare chaplain for elders in LIFE St. Francis of Hamilton, is a sacred artist specializing in Celtic illumination and teaches workshops at parishes and retreat centers. Her slide presentation entitled “The Healing Power of Art” will show how Celtic spirals and symbols can assist others to heal and grow through beauty.

Coordinator of the diocesan Ministry for Maturing Adults Janis W. Bell is eagerly anticipating the four workshops which have been offered throughout the Diocese for over ten years. “It’s such a wonderful event,” she declared. “To experience the camaraderie, the spiritual enrichment, and the atmosphere where all of us are Catholic … that’s what it’s all about.”

The cost for each workshop is $10; registration must be received one week prior to the workshop you wish to attend. To register by mail, send your name, address, contact information, parish and parish city to The Diocese of Trenton, Dept. of Pastoral Care, 701 Lawrenceville Road, Trenton, N.J. 08648-4209.  Registration by credit card can be completed on line at www.dioceseoftrenton.org/spiritualityeducationdays.

For questions or further information, contact Janis Bell at 609-403-7194 or Sherrie Sporek 609-403-7193.

The schedule is as follows:

Monmouth County: May 7 • Nativity Parish, 180 Ridge Road, Fair Haven (registration due by April 30);
