Special Memorial Day Observance

Students, faculty and staff at St. Aloysius School, Jackson, along with representatives from the Jackson American Legion Post #504 celebrated Memorial Day May 26. The ceremony in St. Aloysius School began with reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and then school principal, Elizabeth O’Connor, addressed the gathering, t hanking the American Legion representatives for their years of military service and also for their presence in the school. The Jackson American Legion Post #504 sponsored an essay writing competition; first asking the students to visit the Jackson Veterans Memorial Garden and then to write an essay based on “The Impact my visit to JVMG had on me.”
The winners of the essay contest were; Olivia Sakoutis (first place), Emma DiUbaldi (second) and Michael LaVolpe (third).
The students were also invited to take part in a coloring contest and the winners were Christina Stafyleras (first), Ryan Mangray (second) and Isabella Tomassini (third).
Saint Aloysius School is very grateful to the American Legion Post #504 for their continued support of our school through their presence at events in the school and their contests where winners also receive monetary recognition.
