A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Jan. 31 in Assisi House, Aston, Pa., for Franciscan Sister St. Francis Coco who died Jan. 26 at age 93.

Sister St. Francis (Marie Theresa Coco) was born in Massachusetts. Prior to her entrance into the congregation, she worked in Filene’s Department store. She entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia in 1950 and professed her vows in 1952. She ministered primarily in domestic work in the various convents where she lived.

Sister St. Francis ministered for 12 years in the Trenton Diocese. From 1951-1952, she taught kindergarten in St. Rose of Lima School, Freehold, and from 1962-1973, she ministered in McCorristin Faculty House, Trenton.

Her other years of service included 36 years in the Philadelphia Archdiocese. She also ministered in the Diocese of Harrisburg; and served seven years in Puerto Rico as well as in Massachusetts.

Sister St. Francis is survived by nephews, nieces and by her Franciscan family. Burial will be in Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery, Aston.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Sisters of St. Francis Foundation, 609 S. Convent Rd., Aston, Pa., 19014.
