A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Oct. 17 in St. Anthony Church, a worship site of Our Lady of Sorrows-St. Anthony Parish, Hamilton, for Sister of Charity of St. Elizabeth Ruth Edward Durfee, who died unexpectedly in her Trenton residence. She was 75. Born in Englewood, Sister Ruth was the daughter of Edward and Ruth (Francisco) Dufee. She entered the Sister of Charity Sept. 6, 1961, and was a member for 57 years.

Sister Ruth graduated from the College of St. Elizabeth, Convent Station, with a bachelor of science degree in education and from Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey), Ewing, with a master of education degree. She served the needs of primary grade children in Trenton andHamilton area for 52 years.

She was a teacher, vice principal and principal of Sacred Heart School, Trenton. She provided basic skills and English as a Second Language support for Catapult, Inc. of Hamilton and Robbinsville, at Incarnation-St. James School, Ewing, and other area schools.

In addition to her parents, Sister Ruth was predeceased by her brothers and sister.

Burial was in Holy Family Cemetery, Convent Station.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Sisters of Charity Development Fund, P.O. Box 476, Convent Station, N.J. 07961-0476.
