Sister Mary Cabrini, native of Riverside

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Nov. 5 in St. Joseph Villa Chapel, Reading, Pa., for Bernardine Franciscan Sister Mary Cabrini Nowosielski who died Nov. 1. She was 92.

Born in Riverside, Sister Mary Cabrini entered the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters Third Order Regular of St. Francis Aug. 11, 1946, and was in her 73rd year of religious life. She earned bachelor of science and master of arts degrees from Villanova University, Villanova, Pa. She served as an elementary school teacher and tutor in schools in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C. In the Trenton Diocese, she ministered in All Saints School, Burlington; Holy Family School, Carteret, and St. Mary School, South River, which are both now part of the Metuchen Diocese; St. Dominic School, Brick, and St. Casimir School, Riverside.

Sister Mary Cabrini retired to St. Joseph Villa in 2013. She was predeceased by her parents and four siblings. She is survived by a sister, Alice Clarke of Riverside.

Burial was in the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters’ cemetery, Mount Alvernia, Pa.
