Sister Margaret Pierro, former Villa Victoria Academy educator

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 11 in St. Lucy Chapel of Villa Walsh, Morristown, for Filippini Sister Margaret Pierro who died April 7 in Morristown Medical Center. She was 90.
Born in Bristol, Conn., Sister Margaret entered the Religious Teachers Filippini April 27, 1945. She received the religious habit June 39, 1946, and made her final profession Sept. 11, 1949. She held a bachelor of arts degree in physical science from Seton Hall University, South Orange.
A science teacher in the middle school and high school levels, Sister Margaret taught in the Archdioceses of Newark and Baltimore and in the Dioceses of Trenton and Camden. In the Trenton Diocese, she taught high school science in Villa Victoria Academy, West Trenton, from 1973-1978 and from 1979-1986. She was also principal of the middle school from 1980-1984. As principal she also served in St. Anthony School, Watertown, N.Y.
From 1986-2015, Sister Margaret ministered in Villa Walsh Motherhouse where she assisted in a variety of roles including as infirmary coordinator, director of recreational activities and sacristan. For one year, from 1996-1997, she was stationed by her community to serve in England.
Sister Margaret is survived by her brothers Anthony, Alexander, and Joseph Pierro.
