Sister Margaret Mangieri, taught in four schools throughout Diocese

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Oct. 9 in St. Lucy Chapel at Villa Walsh, Morristown, for Filippini Sister Margaret Mangieri who died Oct. 4. She was 90.

Born and raised in Perth Amboy, Sister Margaret entered the Religious Teachers Filippini in 1939, received her habit in 1943 and made her religious profession in 1946. She was awarded a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from the College of St. Elizabeth, Convent Station.

Sister Margaret served as an elementary school teacher in the Dioceses of Scranton, Pa.; Cleveland; Brooklyn; Paterson; Metuchen; Trenton; Camden, and in the Archdioceses of Newark, Philadelphia and Hartford, Conn.

In the Trenton Diocese, she served in Holy Trinity School, Long Branch, 1978 to 1979 and 1994 to 1995; St. Joachim School, Trenton, 1980 to 1982; Holy Innocents School, Neptune, 1987 to 1990, and Villa Victoria Academy, Ewing, 1990 to 1994.

Sister Margaret retired to Villa Walsh in 1998, and in retirement she served as telephone operator and assisted in transporting sisters to medical appointments. She became a resident of St. Joseph Hall in 2015.

Sister Margaret is survived by a sister and brother-in-law and nieces and nephews. Burial was in Ave Maria Cemetery.
