A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated May 8 in Assisi House, Aston, Pa., for Franciscan Sister Margaret Aloysius McGrail who died May 2. She was 87.

Sister Margaret Aloysius entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia in 1946 and professed her first vows in 1948. She earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Villanova University, Villanova, Pa., in 1955, and a master of science degree in administration in nursing education from The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., in 1964.

During her 63 years in religious life, Sister Margaret Aloysius primarily ministered in healthcare and healthcare administration, serving for 18 years in the Diocese of Wilmington; for 15 years in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia; for 12 years in the Diocese of Trenton in St. Francis Medical Center, Trenton, from 1955-1963, and from 1964-1967, and for nine years in the Diocese of Allentown, Pa. She was also president and corporate executive officer of St. Joseph Hospital, Lancaster, Pa., in the Diocese of Harrisburg. In her early years, she taught in a grade school in the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

Sister Margaret Aloysius is survived by a sister, nieces, nephews and her Franciscan family. Burial was in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Aston.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis Foundation, 609 S. Convent Rd., Aston, Pa., 19014.
