Separated and divorced ministry programs set

The Diocese of Trenton, Department of Pastoral Care will host two events, a “Day of Leadership Training” for those in ministry to separated and divorced Catholics or those preparing to be on Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (registration 9:15 a.m.) and a “Day of Healing” for separated and divorced Catholics Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in St. Ann Church, Lawrenceville.
Guest speaker Marianne Skrobiak, nationally renowned author of “Return to Life” (a divorce recovery series) presents both days. On Oct. 16, she will begin with her introduction “Statistics on Separated and Divorced Catholics in US-The Context for the Ministry.” In part one of her presentation on “Ministry to Separated and Divorced Catholics: The Big Picture,” she will focus on topics such as symptoms of a person who is newly separated or divorced; pressing needs of this group and some of the myths/concerns separated and divorced Catholics have regarding their relationship with the Catholic community. In part two, “How to Start an Excellent Separated and Divorced Ministry” she will highlight subjects such as how does healing happen, selecting and preparing good leaders and making a good support group.
On Oct. 17, Skrobiak will begin her first talk on “Where I have Been, Where I am, Where I want to Go,” followed by “What are the roadblocks to getting to Where I want to Go;” “Will I Ever Trust Again?;” “Being Good to Myself: Self-Care, Boundary-Setting and Pursuing Health and Wellness” and “Forgiveness: The Key to Healing.”
St. Ann Parish Center is located at 1253 Lawrenceville Rd., Lawrenceville. The cost to attend each event is $10 per person made payable to: Diocese of Trenton and mailed to Department of Pastor Care, 701 Lawrenceville Rd., Trenton, NJ 08648.
