The diocesan Department of Pastoral Care will hold its annual Spirituality/Education Day for Maturing Adults ages 55+ in St. Raphael – Holy Angels Parish July 15 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Keynote speaker for the day is spiritual gerontologist Dr. Richard Johnson, founder and director of The Johnson Institute. Dr. Johnson, a practicing Roman Catholic, is author of “The 12 Keys to Spiritual Vitality” and is nationally recognized for his pioneering work in maturing adult faith formation.

In addition to Dr. Johnson’s presentations, a panel of individuals skilled in working with the maturing adult population will discuss various topics of interest, including veterans’ homecare benefits, elder law and estate planning, funeral pre-arrangements, caregiver volunteering hospice and Catholic Charities, among others. Vincentian Father Martin McGeough, diocesan coordinator of Jail and Prison Ministry, will celebrate a closing Mass to offer a prayerful end to the day.

The barbershop quartet “Remember When” will perform sing-along tunes during the patriotic-themed day, and red, white and blue attire is encouraged.

The cost of the event is $10, which includes coffee, snacks and a boxed lunch.
