Schools invited to apply for respect life educational grant

The diocesan department of Pastoral Care Respect Life Ministry is currently accepting applications for the Joseph A. Mazzella Memorial Respect Life Educational Grant for High Schools.
The Respect Life Ministry, through the generosity of the family of the late Joseph A. Mazzella, will award two grants of $1,000 each to Catholic high schools to support projects such as respect life assemblies, speaker’s stipends, DVD’s, books or other education supplies. The grant is explicitly intended for the teaching of respect life issues. This funding may not be applied to chastity education or any other areas of formation.
To be eligible to receive funding, a grant requests must: be made from a Catholic high school within the diocese (grants will not be made to individuals or for projects outside the diocese); seek funding for a specific project or program to educate students on the sanctity of human life; and be implemented during the 2012-2013 or the 2013-2014 academic year. The department of Pastoral Care Respect Life Ministry reserves the right to revise the grant criteria and/or process at any time.
A memo and grant application instructions were placed on the Catholic Schools extranet and mailed to all Catholic school principals.
Decisions on grant approval will be made the diocesan Respect Life Committee, with Father Joe Noche, chaplain and diocesan liaison for Family Life and Pro-Life Activities, and Donna Goodwin, coordinator of Respect Life Ministry in the Department of Pastoral Care.
Grant applications must be received by Jan. 31, 2013. One copy of the application and materials may be sent as an e-mail attachment to Donna Goodwin, coordinator of Respect Life Ministry at [email protected]. Type “Grant Application – (School Name) into the subject line. If sending by U.S. mail, the address is Department of Pastoral Care, 701 Lawrenceville Rd., Trenton, N.J. 08648.
