School supply drives around the diocese

The following parishes and agencies are hosting school supply collections:

For years, Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton, has distributed donated backpacks and school supplies to Burlington County children who are from economically fragile households and those who are victims of domestic violence.

Drop-off locations include Catholic Charities Community Services, 801 Burlington Ave., Delanco, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 5 p.m., and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Call 856-764-6490, ext. 6111.

In addition, donations may be brought to Catholic Charities Providence House Domestic Violence Services, 950A Chester Ave., Suite 20, Delran, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 856-824-0599.

The St. Vincent de Paul Society conference in St. Barnabas Parish, Bayville, is sponsoring its annual school supplies rive.  Donations of items including backpacks, notebooks, new children’s books, binders, paper, pens/pencils, crayons, will be distributed to needy families in the local community.   

Donations can be left in the church vestibules on weekends or dropped off at the food pantry, which is located in the garage of the rectory offices.  The pantry is open for donations on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:30 to 11:15 a.m., and on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m.   

Persons in need of school supplies, should call the St. Vincent de Paul Society at 732-269-2208, ext. 134. School supplies will be distributed in the Meeting Room Aug. 20 during the hours listed above. 

St. Mary of the Lakes Parish, Medford, is holding a back-to-school drive for Burlington County middle and high school students through Aug. 17. All donations will be given to the Christian Caring Center, Browns Mills. Items needed include: backpacks (new or used, in good condition); three and five-subject notebooks, pocket folders; two and three-inch binders; loose leaf paper; pens, pencils and highlighters; index cards; post-it notes; subject dividers. Boxes will be located in the parking lot and Jackson Road entrances of St. Mary of the Lakes Church. Donations may also be brought to the parish office.
