The Diocese has announced several major events that are scheduled during the next two years:
Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., will celebrate the Bishop’s Anniversary Blessing Mass for couples from Burlington, Mercer, Monmouth and Ocean Counties who are observing 50, 25 or one year wedding anniversaries in 2014. The Mass will be celebrated Oct. 19 at 3 p.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 61 Georgia Rd., Freehold. Registrations will take place through the parishes and not over the phone. For information, call Mary Ann Romagna in the diocesan Department of Youth, Marriage and Family Life at 609-403-7159 or email [email protected].
Bishop O’Connell will lead a diocesan pilgrimage to Poland, Footsteps of St. John Paul II, April 23 to May 3, 2015. The pilgrimage will include tours of the hometown places traveled to by the late Holy Father who was canonized in 2014. Tours include but are not limited to: the Pauline Monastery in Jasna Gorna, Lagiewnik where the Divine Mercy message originated; Krakow City Tour and Auscwitz-Birenau Tour; the Jaszczorowka Chapel in Zakopane, and Budapest City tour. Cost is $3,999 per person, double occupancy or $4,698 per person single occupancy.

A Diocesan Marriage Summit is scheduled for May 8-9, 2015, in Georgian Court University, 900 Lakewood Ave., Lakewood. The purpose of the summit is to launch a pastoral plan to strengthen marriages in the diocese in support of Bishop O’Connell’s pastoral priority for marriage.
The plan will include a list of recommendations for each parish. Recommendations will be practical and actionable. The pastoral plan will provide support for the totality of marriage, including preparation for the marital vocation starting in adolescence and early childhood, sacramental preparation for marriage, pastoral care of marriage in every stage and pastoral care for the divorced and those seeking remarriage.
