Rosemary O'Connor, longtime religion teacher at Holy Cross High

Rosemary O’Connor, who was a religion teacher in Holy Cross High School, Delran, for 25 years, died Sept. 8 in Philadelphia at age 65.
A Mass of Christian Burial was to be celebrated Sept. 15 at 11 a. m. in Resurrection Parish-St. Casimir Church, Riverside.
Ms. O’Connor was born in 1945 in Camden and grew up in Riverside and then Delanco. She attended St. Casimir Elementary School, Riverside, and Riverside High School. She received a bachelor’s degree from Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) and a master’s degree in theology from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, Overbrook, Pa.
Prior to teaching at Holy Cross, she spent more than 35 years as a teacher in St. Peter School, Merchantville.
At Holy Cross High, she also served as a campus minister, as head of the Lancers for Life and as the chair of the religion department. She also led student groups on overseas trips, most memorable was to Italy and the Vatican.
A music lover, Ms. O’Connor devoted many years to the music ministry at Holy Cross, where she played her guitar and led the choir for Masses.
Ms. O’Conor was predeceased in death by her parents, Edward and Anna O’Connor, and a sister, Carole Gavin of Edgewater Park.
She is survived by a brother, Edward O’Connor of Medford, Ore.; a brother-in-law, James Gavin of Edgewater Park, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson.
