Rosary, Catholic schools spark social media conversations

In late September, Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., issued a message for October, the month of the Holy Rosary. In it, the Bishop invited “all Catholics in the Diocese of Trenton to consider making this devotion part of your daily life of prayer.”

Some faithful of the Diocese shared how they incorporate prayer into their lives, as well as reflected upon the Bishop’s message. Some responses have been edited for length or clarity:

Jack McGuire: Praying the Rosary is part of my daily prayer life. I pray it Mondays through Fridays after 7:20 a.m. Mass and Saturdays and Sundays at home or in the Adoration Chapel.

John Klapouchy: The Rosary has been a part of my daily prayer life for years.

Mary Anne Huegel: Praising God for our bishop and his wisdom!

Catholic education was among other recent hot topics on the Diocese’s social media channels.

On Sept. 29, St. Peter School, Point Pleasant Beach, was named a 2016 Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. It is among just 50 private schools nationwide and only four across New Jersey, to be selected for the honor by the U.S. Department of Education this year and will be honored during an event Nov. 7 and 8 in Washington, D.C. You can read more about St. Peter School and the award on page 5.

After the Diocese expressed its congratulations and well wishes to St. Peter School, faithful of the Diocese took an opportunity to do the same:

(Father) Jim Grogan, parochial vicar in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Moorestown, whose school was honored with a Blue Ribbon in 2015: Congratulations, St. Peter School!

Linda Hurley and Maryjo Moore Urbanski: Congratulations!

Don Daniel: Catholic schools have it all!

And St. Peter School took time to give thanks.

St. Peter School (@StPeterSchool on Twitter): Thank you! We are proud to be part of the @TrentonDiocese!

Catholic schools were again at the forefront Oct. 4, when Bishop O’Connell served as principal celebrant and homilist for the annual Catholic Schools Mass in St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, Trenton. More about the Mass can be found on page 4.

The Diocese of Trenton provided a live stream of the Mass to those who couldn’t be in the Cathedral that day and several school communities shared the stream, photos and commentary with those back in the classroom.

St. Peter School: See some of our Saints participate in today’s Bishop’s Mass for Catholic Schools. Mrs. Kobrin and Miss Berlino will be receiving special recognition for our Blue Ribbon award too! #catholicschoolshaveitall

Trenton Catholic Academy: Today our students joined students from around The Catholic Diocese of Trenton for the annual Catholic Schools Mass with Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M.!
