Robert W. Holtz, Sr., father of priest

 A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 9 in St. Benedict Church, Holmdel, for Robert Holtz, Sr., who died April 1 in Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Mr. Holtz was the father of Father Robert Holtz, pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Maple Shade.

Mr. Holtz was born June 2, 1933 in Matawan and lived his entire life in Keyport where he was a member of the Keyport Fire Company, Engine Company #1 and was also on the board of directors for the Keyport Historical Society. Mr. Holtz was retired from the State of New Jersey, where he previously worked as a forensic toxicologist.

Mr. Holtz was predeceased by his parents, Joseph A. and Catherine (Crosby) Holtz. In addition to his son, he is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary M. (Emery) Holtz; three daughters, Ann of Elk Point, S.D., Catherine Van Orden (Leo) of Sparta, and Mary M. of Keyport; two sons, Gerard C. (Lang) of Hazlet; Kurt T. (Denise) of Toms River; seven grandchildren, and a brother, Joseph of Orange, Calif.

Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport.
