Retreat offered to meet needs of today's women

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

With the hope of supporting Catholic women’s spiritual, mental and physical needs, and to provide them with a forum for personal and spiritual growth, Catholic Women of Zion (CWOZ) – Chapter 1 is putting together a retreat day.

A special ministry exclusively for Catholic women, CWOZ’s purpose is “to help Catholic women open more and more to the Holy Spirit through a deeper commitment of their lives to Jesus as Lord and Savior and to impart the Holy Spirit to one another by their love, service, and sharing the good news of salvation.”

A retreat planned for Aug. 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in St. William the Abbot Church will begin with Mass, celebrated by Father Thomas Maher, pastor, and the program will feature prayer, music, sharing and prayers for healing.

The latest installment of the ministry’s bi-monthly retreat meetings will feature guest speaker Emily Vidal, who retired as a counselor and teacher in the Rugby School at Woodfield, Wall, and spent time teaching psychology courses in Georgian Court University, Lakewood. Vidal received a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from GCU and an RN from Brooklyn College, N.Y.

Vidal, who has conducted communication skills and evangelization workshops for clergy, religious and laity throughout the Diocese of Trenton for more than 30 years, will speak on the topic “We are the Messengers of Faith, Called to Touch Souls. How Do We Do That?”

Admission is $20 per person, and includes lunch. Registration is required, and attendees can sign up by calling 732-363-0139 ext. 777 or by visiting www.cwoz.org.

Other upcoming retreats include an Oct. 3 gathering in St. William the Abbot Parish, Howell, as well as the second annual Women’s Rally scheduled for Nov. 14 in Holy Family Church, Lakewood.
