RE:IMAGE was time to celebrate faith and the arts

Hundreds of moviegoers focus intently on 'Gimme Shelter' the feature film shown at this year's diocesan RE:IMAGE Film Festival held April 6 in the Count Basie Theatre, Red Bank. Highlights of the day-long event included the celebration of Mass in St. James Church, Red Bank, followed by the showing of a series of films that were produced and categorized by high school-aged young people, young adults and general competition. Among the awards that were presented was the prestigious John Paul II Gravitas Award, given to Kathy DiFiore, recognizing a lifetime of celebrating the human spirit, and using creativity to give glory to God. DiFiore has made it her mission to assist pregnant teenagers by providing them with shelter and support. "Gimme Shelter" is a movie based on DiFiore's work and chronicles the life of a pregnant teen trying to piece her life together after years of abuse and neglect. The RE:IMAGE Film Festival wrapped up with a dessert reception at which time, participants had an opportunity to enjoy tasty sweets and coffee and share views no all they had experienced througout the day.
