RCIA workshop on Period of Inquiry set for Sept. 29

A workshop for those involved in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, including coordinators and team members, will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 29 in St. Benedict Parish, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel.

Titled “Evangelization and the Period of Inquiry,” the workshop will focus on how to effectively evangelize in today’s secular environment as well as how to catechize those who move the process of inquiry toward becoming members of the Catholic Church.

Presenter will be Father Garry Koch, pastor of St. Benedict Parish. Father Koch was ordained a priest June 1, 2013, by Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M. He holds a master of divinity degree from Mary Immaculate Seminary, Northampton, Pa., a doctor of ministry degree from Graduate Theological Foundation in Indiana and a master’s degree in ecclesiastical history from Immaculate Conception Seminary, South Orange. He authors the Scripture column, The Word, for The Monitor.

Registration for the day, which is being sponsored by the diocesan Department of Catechesis, begins at 9:30 a.m. Fee is $15 and includes continental breakfast and lunch.
