Prison ministry volunteers sought

The diocesan Office of Jail and Prison Ministry invites Catholics to discover the power of forgiveness and experience hope and mercy by serving as volunteers, meeting the spiritual needs of our imprisoned brothers and sisters. An informative orientation session will be held Sept. 20 in the Chancery from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to recruit volunteers to work in this rewarding and challenging ministry in the diocese.
“There is a continued need for good people to live the call of the Gospel by visiting and sharing God’s love with our brothers and sisters who are incarcerated,” noted Vincentian Father Martin McGeough, coordinator for Jail and Prison Ministry. He recalled Jesus’ entreaty in the Gospel of St. Matthew for his apostles to help the least of their brethren: “I was in prison, and you visited me.”
To register for the Sept. 20 orientation online, see dioceseoftrenton.org/jporientation, or contact Father Martin McGeough at 609-403-7193. The Chancery is located at 701 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville.
