Presentation on St. Therese of Lisieux slated for April 21

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

The Upper Room Spiritual Center, Neptune will present “St. Therese of Lisieux: Saint for our Violent Times,” April 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with presenter Brother Joseph F. Schmidt, FSC.

Brother Joseph will lead the day of input, reflection and prayer to focus on the six heart-qualities that Therese discovered were necessary for her to walk on the little way of love. He will discuss how one might “love our enemies,” just as Therese tried to love the difficult nuns she lived with.

The presentation will also explore how to follow her very practical suggestions and methods to fulfill our vocation to Love. Therese’s famous statement that “my vocation is love” reminds us that we need to love ourselves, others and God in our time of such distraction, frenzy, stress, confusion and violence.

Brother Joseph is a De La Salle Christian Brother who has been involved in adult lay, cleric and religious spiritual formation and retreat work for 30 years in the U.S. and overseas. He is the author of six books and has written many articles on prayer.

The fee is a $75 - $100 (sliding scale) and includes a light lunch. To register, call 732-922-0550 or email [email protected].

The Upper Room Spiritual Center is located at 3455 W. Bangs Ave., Building 2, Neptune. For more information, see theupper-room.org.
