The New Jersey Right to Life Ocean County Committee recently observed the annual National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
The park contains a gravesite that holds the remains of 100 aborted babies, which were discovered by sanitation workers in August 1984 in Long Beach Township, Loveladies.
The annual September event marks the anniversary of the burial of the aborted babies by pro-life organizations – which won burial rights after an eight-month court battle.
Father James O’Neill, Ocean County Respect Life coordinator, and Edward Di Marco, Day of Remembrance memorial chairman, conducted a memorial service.
Father O’Neill, administrator in St. John Parish, Lakehurst, opened the memorial service with a prayer of mourning for the 100 babies and for all victims of abortion. His message entreated all to evangelize with love to those who participate in abortion, in hopes of encouraging them to be pro-life.
