Pizzeria Showdown to benefit graduates

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

The Holy Angels and St. Raphael Alumni Association of St. Raphael-Holy Angels Parish, Hamilton, will host the first “Pizzeria Showdown” contest Oct. 15 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the parish center at 3500 South Broad Street.

Local restaurants will gather in the parish center to show off their most popular pizza and offer savory tastings to more than 300 guests. The two top honors will be awarded by voting attendees.  They will be named the “Grand Pizza Champion” and the “Pizzaiolo (pizza chef).”

Tickets are $10 per adult, $6 for children six to11 years old and free for children five and under.   Tickets can be purchased at the door on the day of the event or they can be reserved before the event.  All proceeds will benefit the student awards for the eighth grade graduating class of St. Raphael School. For tickets or vendor information, call Marlene at 609-414-3571 or email [email protected].

St. Raphael School was founded in 1951, and throughout its history the school building has undergone renovations in order to improve and maintain the facilities. In 1976, the school completed its largest construction project since the original school was built: the St. Raphael Parish Center, which includes a gymnasium/auditorium and a cafeteria. In 2008, in order to support the expanded preschool program, the school designed and constructed its new Little Angels Preschool. In 2009, St. Raphael School developed a science lab for grades five through eight and a laptop computer lab. The campus was also enhanced by the addition of a new Little Angels playground as well as a new softball field and a soccer field.

Recently St. Raphael School completed upgrades to a 100 percent wireless network. The computer lab was updated to include 34 Dell 23-inch touch screen computers running Office 2013 and Windows 8. Also, new computer desks were installed in the computer lab.
