The parish communities of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Red Bank, and Our Lady of the Angels Parish, Trenton, gathered in faith and witnessed the installations of their new pastors by Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M. During a morning Mass July 21, the bishop installed Father Alberto W. Tamayo as pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Parish. On July 28, the bishop celebrated a late afternoon Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, a worship site of Our Lady of the Angels Parish, during which he installed Father Alcides Castro-Lopez as pastor.

Father Tamayo was ordained a priest in 2007. He served as parochial vicar of St. Barnabas Parish, Bayville, and St. James Parish, Red Bank, and most recently as temporary administrator of Corpus Christi Parish, Willingboro. For two years, he served as Bishop O’Connell’s vice chancellor and priest-secretary.

Father Castro-Lopez was ordained in his native Colombia May 28, 1994, by Bishop Ugo Puccini Banfi. His parish assignments in Colombia included serving as parochial vicar, pastor and as founding pastor of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, Santa Marta. He also served on the board of formation in St. Joseph Major Seminary, Santa Marta; a grade school and high school chaplain; diocesan director of youth ministry, family life and Marriage Encounter.

Since his arrival to the Trenton Diocese in January, 2007 Father Castro-Lopez was assigned as parochial vicar in St. Ann Parish, Browns Mills; St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, Trenton, and Our Lady of the Angels Parish. For four years he was spiritual director for the diocesan Hispanic Cursillo Movement and a member of the planning committee for the Diocesan Eucharistic Congress.

He was incardinated a priest of the diocese Nov. 30, 2010.
