Parish remembers victims of abortion

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

The sanctity of life from the moment of conception was proclaimed and celebrated in St. Gabriel Parish, Marlboro, Sept. 13 during the second annual National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children. Deacon Richard Roenbeck led a faith-filled group of pro-life advocates in the singing of hymns, proclaiming of Scripture and prayer to mourn the lives of aborted pre-born children throughout the nation.

A proclamation of Psalm 139 reminding participants of God’s love even before birth (“You formed my inmost being; you knit me in my mother’s womb”) was followed by the recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet with musical accompaniment and a litany in response to abortion written by Father Frank Pavone, national director of the Staten Island, N.Y.-based Priests for Life. Blessings, a hymn and a procession of flowers to a memorial gravesite on church grounds dedicated to unborn children closed the solemn service.

The inaugural National Day of Remembrance was held last September on the 25th anniversary of the burial of the remains of more than 1,500 abortion victims in Milwaukee.

To learn more about the St. Gabriel Respect Life Ministry, contact Deacon Richard Roenbeck at 732-946-4487 or parish respect life representative Janice Barrett at 732-583-6006.
