Our Lady of the Angels Parish holds 10th Annual Columbus Day Celebration


The traditional Columbus Day Celebration in the City of Trenton will celebrate its 10th anniversary Oct. 10 beginning with Mass at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 540 Chestnut Ave., Trenton. The Mass will be celebrated by Father Jeffrey E. Lee, pastor of Our Lady of the Angels Parish, and concelebrated with local clergy. The parish children’s choir will be participating in the religious services.

The event is co-sponsored by Our Lady of the Angels Parish, the Honor Vice Consul Emerita and Consular Correspondent, Cav. Gilda Rorro Baldassari, and the New Jersey Italian and Italian American Heritage Commission.

Special guests will be “Torre Sibiliana,” a folklore group of singers and dancers from Petrosino, Italy, who have performed in France, Greece and Spain and will be visiting the United States for the first time. The group will be performing for the community at the conclusion of the Mass in the church plaza.  The visiting delegation from Italy attending includes: the Hon. Biagio Valenti, mayor of Petrosino; Dr. Salvatore Pipitone, assessor of Territory Promotion and Cultural

Identity, and Francesca Mezzapelle, assessor of Public Instruction.

A luncheon at the Baldassari Regency will follow at 1 p.m. and the festivities will continue with additional entertainment by "Torre Sibiliana.”

Tickets for the luncheon are $25 and can be purchased at the parish office at 21-23 Bayard Street Sept. 19, 26 and Oct. 3 from 2 – 5 p.m.  No tickets will be sold at the door.  For information, call Francis Mulè at 609-599-9254.
