Our Catholic Heroes -- Celebration of All Saints Day in parishes around the diocese
July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.
Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., declared All Saints Day a “solemn feast when we recall the ‘communion of saints’ in heaven and our continuing relationship with them. It is good for us to remember those who have preceded us in faith - our Catholic ‘heroes’ so to speak - and to gratefully invoke their heavenly intercession and prayer for us as we strive to live good Christian lives, on our journey to join them one day.”
Parishes and schools in the Diocese of Trenton heeded the call to honor these “Catholic heroes” in varied creative and faith-filled ways. The Holy Mass and prayer services marked the feast day for some, while others dressed as their favorite saints, gave presentations to their peers and created digital Saint Storybooks to share what they had learned about the holy men and women who have gone before us.
