Operation Move Over presentation held at St. John Vianney High School, Holmdel

Donna Setaro, mother of deceased N.J. State Trooper Marc Castellano, held a presentation for St.  John Vianney High School students on Nov. 16. Along with N.J. State Trooper, Sgt. Pangborn, SJV class of 1992. Setaro made the presentation on Operation Move Over, which deals with driver safety and the law requiring drivers to move over when flashing lights are seen for an emergency vehicle on the side of the road.

Setaro’s son, N.J. State Trooper Marc Castellano, was killed in the line of duty on June 6, 2010. Castallano was assisting in a massive search in Howell, along Route 195, when he was struck by a vehicle.

Setaro spoke with the students about Officer Castellano, and shared details about what he was like growing up and his accomplishments in life. She explained to the students that an accident like the one that took his life can happen to anyone when drivers do not abide by the law.

Sgt. Pangborn talked with the students about being aware of their surroundings when driving, and taking accountability for themselves and their actions. He also spoke about the dangers of drunk driving.

Operation Move Over is of special interest to SJV vice principal, John Niesz, who is a retired sergeant from the Freehold Borough Police Department. Niesz was forced to retire due to an injury in the line of duty when he suffered a broken neck.
