NPM Trenton announces membership drive, slate of events

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

The Trenton Chapter of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians (NPM) has launched a new website and membership drive as they present a full slate of activities for the musicians of the diocese.

All those involved in music ministry are invited to join the diocesan chapter, whether they serve their parish as directors of music, cantors, choir members, clergy, organists, guitarists or liturgy committee members. NPM Trenton chapter events such as choral reading sessions, a Lenten choral festival, workshops by nationally renowned clinicians on a variety of topics, an ice cream social and a diocesan-wide Mass for Musicians are scheduled throughout the liturgical year.

Membership allows individuals free or discounted admission to events, weekly email notifications, the ability to advertise parish events, job postings and substitute musician lists. Individual membership dues are $15 per year; parish memberships, which can be extended to all in a parish music program, are $50 per year.

“Membership not only has many benefits for those who sign up, but it also benefits all of the musicians in the Diocese,” noted Michael Zorner, NPM chapter director. Zorner, who also serves as director of music ministry in St. Anselm Parish, Tinton Falls, continued, “Increased participation provides increased funding, which provides for better programs using the best available clinicians.”

The chapter’s opening event for the 2014-2015 calendar is a choral reading session in St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, Freehold, Oct. 26 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Oregon Catholic Press composer and clinician Jerry Chiusano will lead attendees as they sing through some of the newest and best music published by OCP for congregations, choirs, contemporary ensembles, children’s choirs and multicultural celebrations. NPM members will be admitted to this event for free; non-members pay $10. St. Robert Bellarmine Parish is located at 61 Georgia Road, Freehold.
