Notre Dame Model Congress wins Outstanding Delegation

Notre Dame High School, Lawrenceville, won the Outstanding Delegation Trophy for a small delegation at the Rutgers Model Congress (RMC) conference held April 19-22.
The following students were presented with individual awards: Kiera Harrison, “Best Position Paper for the House Ways and Means Committee;” Ryan Persichilli, “Best Position Paper” in the role of Congressman;” Eric Cantor, “2011 Historic Budget Committee;” Rebecca Pittore, “Best Position Paper,” in the role of Justice Samuel Alito, for the United States Supreme Court; Mark Hill, “Most Improved in the House Homeland Security Committee;” Maggie Mann, “Outstanding Delegate,” in the role of FEMA director Michael Brown, in the historic 2005 Hurricane Katrina Committee; Kyra Pastore, “Best Delegate,” in the role of Richard Nixon, in the Historic House Un-American Activities Committee.
Twelve Notre Dame students participated, representing Arizona and California as well as the following personalities in Advanced Committees: Michael Brown in the Historic 2005 Hurricane Katrina simulation; Congressman Richard Nixon in the Historic House Un-American Activities Committee simulation; Eric Cantor in the Historic 2011 Budget Crisis simulation, and Justice Samuel Alito in the US Supreme Court.
Model Congress moderators are school faculty and staff members, Jean McGraw and Peggy Wroblewski.
