Notre Dame High to host 'First Look' open house for sixth- and seventh-grade students

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

Every spring for the past seven years, Notre Dame High School, Lawrenceville, has dedicated a Sunday afternoon in which sixth- and seventh-grade students are invited to visit and take a look around. Once again, the school will open its doors to these junior high school-aged students to an open house 1 to 3:30 p.m. May 5.

This open house, which has come to be known as “First Look,” gives the students and their families an opportunity to plan for the future and determine “where they can see their child and their family for four years,” said Laura Sarubbi, Notre Dame’s director of enrollment management.

“Since this is probably the first time a prospective student is going on a high school tour, we offer them a quieter setting with more opportunities to speak with school administrators, faculty, students and parents,” said Sarubbi.

“Families will get a chance to learn about life after Notre Dame when 98 percent of our students go on to college. They will be introduced to our offerings in the arts and athletics,” Sarubbi said, who noted that during the open house, tours will be offered by peer leaders, classrooms will be open with teachers, and students giving demonstrations and presentations will be given in the library by the school’s principal and president. In the Student Center, visitors can have questions answered on the admissions process, tuition and speak with representatives from the parent organizations.

To help families decide which high school would be best for their child, Sarubbi recommends that they visit the school as much as possible.

“The more opportunities they have to interact with the high school community, the easier it will be to recognize God’s plan for their family,” she said. “God will give them that sense of peace and they will know, ‘This is the place for us. It feels right.’”

To register for the May 5 “First Look,” visit ndnj.org or call the Admissions Office at 609-882-7900. Notre Dame High School is located at 601 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville.
