Mother Teresa increases scholarship fund

July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.

Mother Teresa Regional School, Atlantic Highlands, recently announced an anonymous $50,000 donation that is meant to fund the St. Thomas More Scholarship Fund. In addition, for every dollar over $50,000 raised by the PTA during the 2014-2015 school year, the donor will match, dollar for dollar, up to $25,000, states a press release from the school.

“I am deeply honored and grateful for this extraordinary act of generosity,” said Principal Tom Sorci. “This anonymous gift is an exceptional vote of confidence as we embark on an exciting new year at Mother Teresa Regional School, a school that has traditionally reached out to families from the Bayshore area to help meet the cost of a Catholic school education.”

The donor, who asked to remain anonymous, was attracted to the school because of its special commitment to children of all faiths and economic circumstances.

The St. Thomas More Scholarship Fund has been established to assist qualified families in attending Mother Teresa Regional School. Families interested in applying for the scholarship are asked to contact the school and speak to Doris Kane, business manager at 732-291-1050.  The financial aid application can also be found on the school’s website.

Mother Teresa Regional School has several upcoming fundraisers scheduled, with the first major fundraiser being Casino Night, Nov. 8 at Jacques Reception Center, Middletown.
