Meeting of the Minds

Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., recently visited the four counties of the Diocese for the  Annual Vicariate Gatherings with his priests.  The gatherings, which drew 120 priests in total,  included communal evening prayer, followed by a series of presentations and discussions. Diocesan youth ministry coordinator Rudy Gomez shared updates, followed by Bishop O’Connell’s State of the Diocese address – featuring updates about the Bishop’s new vocations initiatives and priorities related to finances, planning and development for the future of the Diocese of Trenton. The Bishop, pictured speaking to clergy and seminarians at the Monmouth County meeting – the largest gathering of the four – also addressed the diocesan Hispanic ministry, a plan to distribute The Monitor to more parishioners, as well as this year’s priest convocation coming up in September. The occasion also provided a chance for the priests in attendance to ask questions and engage in discussions with Bishop O’Connell.  Photo courtesy of Rev. Mr. Jason M. Parzynski
