Masses, speakers, activities mark Respect Life Month in Diocese

The Diocese of Trenton, in alliance with their pro-life brethren across the nation, will recognize Respect Life Month and Respect Life Sunday this October with both joyful celebrations and solemn commemorations. Parishes of the Diocese have announced the following observances and events:

St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, Avon, hosts a “Holy Hour for Life and Those Suffering Unto Death” with Divine Mercy Chaplet each Tuesday morning following the 8 a.m. Mass in the church located at 424 Lincoln Ave. For information contact the parish office at 732-774-4089.

St. Joseph Parish, Trenton, is hosting Eucharistic Adoration and the recitation of the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet for Life Oct. 5 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Guadalupe Chapel of the church located at 540 N. Olden Ave., Trenton. For information contact the parish office at 609-394-5757.

St. Gabriel Parish, Marlboro, will begin the third ‘Spiritual Adoption Campaign’ after all Masses Oct. 4-5. “Prayer Squares” will be prepared for parishioners to spiritually adopt babies and pray for them for the next nine months. The church is located at 100 N. Main Street. The Respect Life committee will be present after Masses to assist parishioners with any questions.

St. Veronica Parish, Howell, will be participating in a Life Chain Oct. 5 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in front of the rectory at 4215 U.S. Hwy. 9. An additional Life Chain location will be at 651 Rt. 37 West, Toms River, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. For more information on this location, contact Ed at 732-341-9029.

St. Gregory the Great Parish, Hamilton Square, will hold a Mass of Healing for Infant and Pregnancy Loss Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. Sponsored by the Elizabeth Ministry, the Mass is intended for those families who have suffered the loss of an infant through miscarriage, stillbirth or regretted abortion, and those who have journeyed with their child through a fatal illness. Light refreshments and fellowship will follow. St. Gregory the Great Parish is at 4620 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square. For further information, contact Doreen at 609-672-3799.

St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Cinnaminson, will host a Respect Life Holy Hour Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. followed by Holy Mass at 7 p.m. and a healing service thereafter. The church is located at 2500 Branch Pike. For further information, contact the parish at 856-829-3322.

St. Mary Parish, Barnegat, is holding a number of events to commemorate Respect Life month. A Hospitality Sunday will be held after all morning Masses Oct. 5. The annual Breakfast for Life, with guest speaker Chris Bell of Good Counsel Homes, Riverside, will be held Oct. 11 after the 8 a.m. Mass. Bell will also speak at all Masses (except the Sunday 5 p.m. Mass) the weekend of Oct. 25-26. St. Mary Parish is located at 747 West Bay Avenue. St. Peter Parish, Point Pleasant Beach, will hold a Holy Hour for Life Oct. 5 at 1:30 p.m. The parish is located at 406 Forman Avenue. Call the parish office at 732-892-0049 for further information.

St. Justin the Martyr Parish, Toms River, will recite a Rosary for Life after the Oct. 5 noon Mass. The parish is located at 975 Fischer Blvd. For further information, call the parish office at 732-270-3980.

St. Theresa Parish, Little Egg Harbor, will hold a Spiritual Adoption baby shower after all Masses the weekend of Oct. 18-19. Gifts and cash donations will be collected and distributed equally between Open Door Pregnancy Center, Toms River; Birthright Pregnancy Center, Barnegat, and Good Counsel Home, Riverside.

Sacred Heart Parish, Bay Head, will observe Respect Life Month the weekend of Oct. 4-5. All homilies during the weekend will focus on respect life issues, intercessions for life will be prayed and a special collection will be taken up with proceeds used to fund respect life printed materials and donated to pregnancy centers in the diocese. The parish is located at 751 Main Ave.

St. Peter Parish, Point Pleasant Beach, will hold join in the America Needs Fatima Public Square Rally Oct. 11 at noon. Participants will gather in front of the church located at 406 Forman Ave. and walk to a small park that is directly in front of the church where they will pray the Rosary. Those who have difficulty standing are invited to bring a lawn chair. There is a parish parking lot and parking is available on the street. The event will be held rain or shine.
