July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.
The Diocese of Trenton, in support of five New York-based priests and seminarians cycling up the east coast to promote vocations, will hold a welcome Mass at 7 p.m. June 10 in Sacred Heart Parish, 343 S. Broad St., Trenton.
Father Dennis Apoldite, diocesan director of vocations and the house of discernment and pastor of Sacred Heart and Divine Mercy Parishes, Trenton, will host the five-man “Biking4Vocations” team of two priests and three seminarians from New York who have been cycling along a 1,400-mile route along the Eastern seaboard to raise awareness in vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
The team of cyclists left St. Augustine, Fla., May 17, planning to ride their bikes through 11 states, 10 dioceses and five archdioceses before they conclude their route June 14 at the Diocese of Rockville Centre’s Cathedral of St. Agnes.
Father Apoldite will host the men at the House of Discernment on the Sacred Heart Parish Campus before Mass, and invites the faithful to attend and pray for an increase in vocations, especially for the Diocese of Trenton.
A website, www.biking4vocations.org, has been created to enable those interested to follow the five bikers on their journey. It will post daily updates and GPS tracking of the pilgrims, as well as up-to-date information on events in each Diocese welcoming them.
